After seven losses in a row you are €635 down and the table will not accept the €640 bet the system requires. Seven losses in a row sounds unlikely, but over a few hundred hands it happens regularly. Every hand carries the same house edge whatever you bet, so rearranging stakes (Martingale, Paroli, d’Alembert, Fibonacci) only changes how your results are distributed — many small wins and an occasional large loss — not the expected loss. Blackjack adds its own complications: doubles and splits force extra money onto the table in the middle of a sequence.
Card counting: where it works and where it does not
